31.3 The Importance of Love

Series 31

Episode 3

Prologue

Brothers and sisters, today’s topic for Treasures for the Soul is The Importance of Love. We were created and born again to be in love with God. The Bible often talks about the importance of love. For example, in Psalm 90, it says that we need to be satisfied in the morning with His steadfast love. In 1 Corinthians 13, it also mentions that love is the greatest. It’s so precious that God is the origin of love. He loves us so much. As mentioned in 1 John 4, “We love because He first loved us.” And in Jeremiah 31, it says that He has loved us with an everlasting love. It’s even more precious that it’s this love that draws us. When we are drawn by the Lord and enter into the personal love of the Infinite One, we can overcome the schemes of the enemies. We don’t need to compare ourselves to others, because we know what’s the most precious, which is to be in love with the Lord.

Message

I hope you haven’t forgotten what I shared before about the importance of love. In Psalm 90, Moses was about to finish his life journey, and he asked God to give him wisdom to live his remaining days. He prayed for wisdom. One of his prayers  was  for God to “satisfy us in the morning with His steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days”, that is, every day (Psalm 90:14). That is very important! It’s of utmost importance that we rejoice in God every day. When you enjoy and experience God, you should rejoice. And love is very important because God created us for Himself and for His love, and for us to have love interflow with Him. To be in love with Him, you must first enjoy His love. 1 John 4:19 has helped me a lot. “We love because He first loved us.” Many Christians keep going in circles and rely on their own efforts to love God. But in order to love Him, they should really first enjoy God’s love.

We should know that love is the most important. The first commandment God gave us is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). Paul also says, “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13). 1 Corinthians 13 is the most beautiful love chapter.

Nothing is more precious than for you to love God. What He treasures most is that you love Him. What you  treasure most is that God loves you, right? Of course, you also treasure that He is almighty, wise, and all-knowing. But don’t you treasure most that He loves you? For me, what I treasure most is that He loves me. Of course, His other attributes are also precious. Let me ask you all. If what you treasure most is that God loves you, raise your hands. Do you feel there’s anything else that’s more precious than His love? Why not? It’s because His love reflects His heart and who He is. For example, since His love belongs to you and He loves you, He will certainly use His wisdom to cause everything  to work together for you. Because He loves you, He will use His might to help you. So, when you have His love, you have He Himself and His heart. That’s the same as having His everything. If He didn’t love you, how would His wisdom be related to you? How would His might have anything to do with you? Instead, it would make you afraid. If He didn’t love you, the fact He has  such great power would only make you tremble in fear. You would be afraid of  what He might  do to you.

That’s why love is the most precious. You treasure most that God loves you. Similarly, what do you think God treasures the most? He definitely treasures your heart the most. He has given His heart to you. He loves you the most. Because He loves you so much, He must treasure your love even more. The more you love someone, the more you will treasure their love. What He treasures most is that we love Him. When we love Him, we will also love those He loves. Because of His love, we will love brothers and sisters. We will radiate  love and we will be changed to love others.

1 John 4:19 reads “We love because He first loved us.” God does not say that He would only love us if we love Him first. That’s why the Bible says, “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.” (Romans 11:36)

Romans 11:35 writes, “Or who has given a gift to Him that He might be repaid?” (Romans 11:35) If anything, we are the ones who would owe Him, because  He is so good. Think about it. Do you have to pay for the air that He provides you to breathe? If God were to collect fees, He would have become very rich. That’s even if you only paid a cent for each breath of air, because you have to breathe so much!. Everything comes free of charge. Does sunlight cost anything? And the rain? He has really given everything to us  to enjoy.

Jeremiah 31:3 reads “…the Lord appeared to me from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued My faithfulness to you”

God has drawn you with His love. Love is the most precious. Your heart is made for this love. You were created to be in love with Him. If you did  not enjoy God’s love, you would  never feel satisfied. Even if you possess a lot, it’s all vanity. This is the condition of the people in this world. They work hard to make money, buy all sorts of things, and travel around. But do they feel satisfied? Never! The need of your heart is very great. Even if everyone in this world loved  you, you still would not  feel satisfied.

But think about this. After you believed in God, there were times when the Lord drew close to you and appeared to you. And your heart could feel it more. Do you remember feeling really happy? ? You know He loves you. Through experience, you know He loves you. This is incomparable. I hope you and I can experience His love more and live in His love. He wants us to live in His love, and to be rooted and grounded in His love (Ephesians 3:17). When we are rooted and grounded in Him, not only can we stand firm, but His love will also cause us to grow and bear fruits. We need to be rooted in the Lord and in His love.

2 Corinthians 5:14 says that the love of Christ controls us, so now we live for Him. Right now we’re living in His love, and we’re in love with Him. He forever lives for us and we also live for Him. I’ve found my life goal and purpose. He wants to accomplish His love dream. His love dream is a family. We, the lost sons, have returned home and entered into His love. We love Abba; we love the Lord; and we enjoy the family of Abba and the Lord.

His love controls us. It says “because we have concluded this.” So, you need to use your mind. When you can feel that He loves you and you remember that He died for all, His love will compel you to love Him and live for Him. It’s not by force or power. Being forceful can never win the hearts of people. God is absolutely sincere  and He gives us freedom in how we respond to Him. When we love Him, it must be from our true hearts. Otherwise, it’s meaningless. If He created you to be  a puppet, to just repeat the words  “Lord, I love you”, it would be meaningless no matter how many times you said it . It could not be compared to my one response to Him on the mountain saying, “Lord, I love you! In this whole universe, I love you the most.” The most precious thing to God is your true heart. Nothing else in this world can compare to it. It’s really very precious!

After the Lord was resurrected, He asked Peter, “Do you love Me?” In the gospel of John, the first chapter says the Lord  became flesh and went through a lot on earth. He became the Lamb of God. In the end, what He wanted to ask the most was, “Do you love me? I’ve loved you for so long. I know your whole life. ‘Simon, son of John.’ I also know your father. I know your whole life. I know your background.” Peter denied Jesus at one point. But  because of the Lord’s love, this did not hinder Jesus from loving Peter   (even though having denied Jesus was not a good thing ). The Lord  knew  everything about Peter, yet the Lord  chose him and asked Him, “Do you love me?” Peter’s future victory was  before the Lord’s eyes. He died for the Lord. In the end, he was victorious.

My hymns express  the Lord’s personal love to me. His love endures all trials. Not only that, but He became a Man, died on the cross, and went through all things for me. However,   what I treasure the most is how He endures  all the times I’ve tested his love. No matter how I treat Him, He is able to withstand everything. His love overcomes all.

Song of Solomon says, “Draw me after you” (Song 1:4). I really need the Lord to draw me after Him, so that I can run after Him. I emphasize “being drawn”. God also knows its importance, so He draws us with His love. We need to always see His love. In Psalm 26, David says he  always set the Lord’s love before himself. How God loves you is the most precious truth. It’s the window into God’s heart. There are many precious truths in His heart that express how He loves you. It’s so  wonderful and colorful! There are truths about your life now and in eternity, different matters from eternity to eternity, different needs that you have etc. All these truths help you overcome the enemies, all shadows, and anything that disturbs you. It’s so precious. I never dared to imagine this in the past, yet He has planned out everything perfectly. He is so real. His love is true. He is absolutely true! He has helped me numerous times. He is my life. I treasure His love. Without this love, I could never  be happy. The love of our Beloved is so precious, and so is  the love of our true Abba.

You should set all these truths in front of yourself. If you cannot see His love, it’s hard for you to be happy from the bottom of your heart. The Devil will disturb you. He has been disturbing mankind since creation until now. That’s because God’s love is the most important and it’s at the core of everything. Satan sows doubt in your mind that causes you to feel that God does not love you that much, or that you are not good enough. What Satan  says can sound  reasonable. He also causes you to compare yourself to others. But there’s  really no way to make that sort of comparison. If I know more than you, it may be because I’ve believed in God longer. And sometimes, the more God gives to someone, the more God also asks of that person. You need to enter into His name–the Infinite One, Jehovah–so that you do not compare. It’s as if there were only you and Him in this whole universe. He fully belongs to you and loves you. What’s there to compare? There’s only you. There’s no need to compare yourself to others because He loves you the most and delights in you the most. Do not be deceived by the Devil. He causes you to focus on what’s temporary, or gets you to think you’re “not good enough”.  He wants your eyes to pay attention to those small things. But your love for God will endure for eternity.  This love is before God’s eyes.

Set the Lord and His Love Always Before Us

Message Date: 2020-06-14

The Lord is our all knowing true Beloved; He knows all our needs thoroughly. His words, His life journey, His abundance, His plan etc are all to fulfill our needs. After we have accepted the Lord, we still have many needs. He knows it all, and He has given Himself and His love to us eternally. Love is the greatest and the most important. Without Abba and the Lord’s love, we cannot live. The devil has always tried to alienante our relationship with God; in particular, he wants to make us feel that God doesn’t love us the most. We must draw near to God every day, use our hearts to pay attention to God, and enjoy Him and His love always. Only by doing so will we love Him the most.
