32.3 The Offspring of the woman

Series 32

Episode 3

Prologue

Brothers and sisters, today’s topic of Treasures for the Soul is “The offspring of the woman.” Satan has been deceiving many. He has used all schemes to cast doubts in us about God and caused us to question God’s love toward us. Therefore, we need to guard our minds. Genesis chapter 3 writes about the fall of man. However, it’s very precious that at the same time, God immediately told about the prophecy of “the offspring of the woman.” This account already hinted at two of the very important prophecies: “the virgin shall conceive” and the Lord’s crucifixion. The Lord is forever a man for us. To accomplish salvation, He was crucified for us. These two events were the most impossible, but they have been accomplished.

Message

Let’s read Genesis chapter 3. I believe most of us are pretty familiar with how man fell. Satan is really malicious. Now that the Lord is coming back soon, Satan knows his days are limited. We need to guard our mind and not to be deceived by Satan. He is very cunning. Therefore, we need to be careful. He will try all he can to affect you, and cause you not to feel God’s love toward you. By all means, He tries to affect your personal time with God. He knows what is the most important and what can harm your spirit. He uses temptations, accusations and various thoughts to disturb you. Therefore, it’s very important for you to guard your thoughts and mind. In order to protect your heart, you must guard your mind. It’s so precious that there are plenty of good things for you to meditate on, such as the Bible, which we can read more.
We can set our mind on plenty of things from above. Meditation on the Lord alone is already boundless. And the Bible bears witness for Him. We need to be filled with good things. Singing the two “diamond songs” every day is very beneficial in guarding your mind and your heart. In addition, it can bring you other positive influences. Worshiping the Father and the Lord is the most precious time spent. The Father and the Lord greatly desire these moments. God will continue to reveal Himself to you every day. Your affection with the Lord can grow deeper daily. Love grows with time. He desires you to a point that He requests: Let me see your face, let me hear our voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. (Song 2:14) No matter how you sing, your voice is sweet to Him. You are lovely in His sight.
Faith in God and His love is very important. The Bible has mentioned this a lot. The Lord’s love evidence is very rich and abundant. Today, we will focus on how the Lord became a man for us.
Genesis chapter 3 writes about the fall of man. Let’s read verse 14: The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you… (Gen 3:14) We see that there are consequences of sins for both the serpent and the man. We should fear God. We will surely suffer when we sin. Satan lures you to disobey God, and for sure, the outcome is miserable. Please consider: if you don’t obey God in your life, how can you have good outcomes? In the past, you were deceived by Satan, who is extremely malicious! Loving God always brings you good results. On the other hand, you will only suffer if you don’t obey Him. Let’s continue verse 14: “…above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. Note that Satan is called the ancient serpent in the Book of Revelation. Verse 15 says, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. It’s so precious that the offspring of the woman, that is the Lord, would come and bruise Satan’s head. The Lord also paid a price, as it says here that His heel would be bruised.
Note that here, the Lord is not called “offspring of the man” even though it is common in the Bible to mention the father’s names in a genealogy. For instance, it says that Abraham fathered Isaac. It’s written here: “the offspring of the woman shall bruise your head.” The prophecy of “the virgin shall conceive” is already hidden here. This is very precious. When man sinned, the Lord became the offspring of the woman, different from Adam, who was already a grown man when he was first created. The Lord was born to a virgin. Don’t you find it very precious? When man sinned and failed, the Lord was willing to come and turn things around. He was born, and He bruised Satan’s head on the cross; He defeat our enemy. He brought salvation for us. He was wounded, but He changed human history. He changed our life and eternity. The Lord has won the victory. He bruised Satan’s head! God can use other descriptions, but He said “the offspring of the woman.” His Beloved Son became a man for us. He came as the offspring of the woman. He became a baby, a human, and He accomplished the perfect salvation. He has changed everything!
In my opinion, the two most impossible events are the Lord becoming the offspring of the woman, and His crucifixion. From the above prophecy, told immediately after man sinned, we can see how God—the Father and the Lord—are pleased to carry out these two events! Forever we will treasure, be amazed and stunned by such actions of God. What God has accomplished will never fade but will be closely related to us forever. He has accomplished it! The fruit of the cross is so abundant that till eternity, we will continue to see how it affects the whole universe. At the end, He will say, “It is done!” (Revelation 21:6)

Amazing – the Lord is a man forever

Message Date: 2020-08-23

The fact that the Lord is a man forever will amaze everyone till eternity. Our life would have been completely hopeless if the Lord had not come to be born in this world, and to live and die for us. At the moment when Adam and Eve sinned, God already foretold that “the offspring of the woman” would bruise the head of the serpent. It was prophesied in the Book of Isaiah that “to us a child is born…” The book also mentions that the Lord’s name is “Immanuel,” meaning, God is with us. The Book of Micah prophesied that He was to be born in Bethlehem. The Gospel of John says, “The Word became flesh.” The Gospel of Matthew tells us that He has the name of a man: Jesus, meaning that He would save His people from their sins. The Lord indeed came. He began life as a baby, held in the arms of human beings . He experienced the same things that we do on earth, so He can sympathize with us. He longed to be the closest to us. He is forever a man, which tells us that He commits Himself to love us totally and eternally. We are His ultimate darlings.
