The Lord’s love desire is for us to have the love with which the Father has loved Him in us. In John 17, the Lord talked about His life on earth, and how He was sent by the Father. He accomplished the work the Father had sent Him to do, and He was going back to the Father. When the Lord talked about His work on earth, He already foresaw His victory. The Lord was glorified on the cross, and at the same time, He also glorified the Father. The glory, beauty and love of the Father are so great that He deserves to be glorified continuously. The Father is glorified so that each one of us will greatly treasure Him.
The Lord desires that the love with which the Father has loved Him be in us. Therefore, we need to continuously enter deeper and deeper into the Lord’s love, as well as the Father’s love. The Trinity God is exceedingly beautiful. The infinite love union among the Father, the Lord and the Holy Spirit is marvelous. Not only are they united, they are one. The cross manifests the exceeding glory of God, which we will not be able to fully understand, even till eternity.
The Lord told us what eternal life is. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3) The crucifixion of the Lord has brought us many blessings. First and foremost, He gives us eternal life. It’s the desire of the Father and the Lord that we have eternal life. Paul regarded knowing and experiencing God a surpassing worth. Not just hearing about God, but it is also our treasure to have a personal experience with the Father and the Lord.
Paul regarded knowing God in experience the most precious. Paul was so glorious because he deeply experienced the Lord. David was the same. From the Book of Psalms we see that he drew near to God and deeply experienced Him. Nowadays, we should experience the Lord even more. To me, experiencing God is the most precious in my life. The Bible will not be mistaken. Paul said this is his treasure with “surpassing worth”; and likewise it is mine. I believe it is also your greatest treasure. Nothing on earth can replace such experience. Indeed, you know clearly that there’s nothing as precious on earth!
We are experiencing eternal life now on earth. When the Lord returns, the experience will surely exceed all that we have experienced in our lifetime. We will experience God in eternity. This blessing alone is indeed marvelous. Both the Father and the Lord are in great joy when we are drawn to God, and having deep fellowship and love interflow with God.
